If Democrats Be part of Up with GOP to Elect a Reasonable Republican Home Speaker, I Will Resign

Thursday on FNC’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), one of many 20 Republican holdouts not supporting Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) bid for Speaker of the Home, mentioned a coalition of Republicans and Democrats electing a reasonable Republican was not a priority.

The Florida Republican defended his opposition effort and instructed host Laura Ingraham that if his actions resulted in Democrats becoming a member of with Republicans to elect a so-called reasonable Republican, he would resign.

“Are you going to be OK, congressman – would you be OK if there’s a deal struck with reasonable Democrats that give Democrats co-control of the committees?” Ingraham requested. “You’re superb with that?”

“Completely not,” Gaetz replied. “That won’t occur. There’s two potential situations right here. I’m on the ground. These 212 Democrats are going to vote for Hakeem Jeffries each single time. He’s a historic candidate. They’re not going to cleave off. If Democrats be a part of as much as elect a reasonable Republican, I’ll resign.”
